• Creative Ways to Recycle Plastic

Plastic is non-biodegradable, but there is a way to avoid adding plastic wastes to landfills. Recycling! Do not throw away something that you can turn into something fun. Here are some ideas that you can try to recycle empty containers, bottles, jugs and jars.

    Small Decorative Baskets

Cut the bottom of a large bottle and then wrap it with your favourite fabric to create a small basket. Decorate it with some jewels to make your basket unique.

Cut one side of a large milk jug or bottle to turn it into a planter. You can then plant some houseplants that don’t require a lot of maintenance. Decorate the planters to make them blend with your interior.

    Coin Jars

Jars can be made into a personalised bank. This is also a good way to teach your kids how to save money. Decorating the jar with your kids is a great way to bond with them.

    Bird Feeder

You can turn your pop bottle into a bird feeder. It’s not only easy and fun to make, but also cheap. Aside from giving your birds a source of food, making a bird feeder is also a great way to practice your creative skills.

You can make your own jewellery. Punch out various shapes from plastic bottles and use them as beads to create pendants and charms.

    Braided Plastic Bags

Why throw away your plastic bags when you can braid and use them as a rope to tie whatever you want?

    Flower Vases

You don’t need to buy a new vase when you can make your own. Get some plastic bottles, rubber band and washi tape to make your own decorative flower vase. Put several bottles together and use the rubber band to tie them together and keep them in place. After wrapping the bottles with wash tape, fill them with water and then put your favourite flowers inside.

    Beach Toys

Get a soap bottle and cut its top part. Kids can use it to play with water and scoop sand.

    Decorative Peacocks

You can use plastic bottles to make decorative peacocks. Embellish them with jewels and paint them with whatever colour you want.

Did you know that you can use drinking straws to make your own lampshade? You just need to get as many straws as possible and then loop them together in a creative manner to create a beautiful lampshade to decorate your home with.

With your creativity, you can make beautiful creations out of plastic. Throwing away plastic wastes will only harm the environment, so think of various ways to recycle your plastic bottles and empty jars.  You’ll not only be able to save money, but also protect the environment.
